Got Questions?

Domain Transfer Frequently Asked Questions

Will transferring my domain cause downtime for my website?

No. During the transfer, your existing nameservers and DNS settings remain untouched until the move is complete. Your website, emails, and online services remain 100% accessible to your visitors without interruption.

What is an IPS Tag and how do I change it?

Nominet uses IPS tags to identify which registrar manages a `.uk` or `.co.uk` domain. To transfer to Tervani, log in to your existing provider (such as 123-Reg, GoDaddy, or IONOS), find the domain management settings, and update the IPS tag to STACK. The change is processed almost immediately.

Do I lose any time left on my current registration?

Never. For `.uk` domains, your existing expiry date carries over unchanged. For generic extensions like `.com` and `.org`, the transfer fee adds a full additional 12 months to whatever time you already have remaining on your registration.
